Forest Gardening and Design Course

Robert Harts Forest Garden
The course will be led by Jo Barker and Claire White, both experienced & passionate Forest Garden Designers and teachers who have worked on various projects, ranging from Farm scale design and implementation, community projects and home gardens. Examples of their designs will be available on the course.

The course will cover:
• Origins & principles of forest gardening.
• Perennial food growing,
• Design with trees, shrubs and ground cover.
• Implementation of design and aftercare.
This course is open to all, no previous experience is necessary to attend, forest gardening attracts interest from experienced gardeners and professionals as well as newcomers. There will be practical sessions (mulching) and design exercises, please bring your own projects to work on.
By the end of the course you will have a basic knowledge of the ideas and principles of forest gardening as well as understanding some of the techniques necessary to put the theory into practice.

Fees: £250 earnings over 25k, 
         £180 earnings under 25k,
         £100 Student/ Low income

London Autumn 2014 Full Permaculture Design Course

The Permaculture Design Course (PDC) is a vital stage in the development of understanding of permaculture ethics, principles, design processes and implementation techniques.

London Autumn 2014 At Full Permaculture Design Course 
follows the PDC Core curriculum certified by the Permaculture Association (Britain). 

This (PDC) is a vital stage in the development of understanding of permaculture ethics, principles, design processes and implementation techniques.
 

Completion of the course qualifies attendees for the Permaculture Design Course certificate, provides recognition as a Permaculture Design graduate, and enables you to go on to study for the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design.

This Full Design Course will take place in  fortnightly over six weekends:

We will be based at Mudchute farm for most of the course, a
32 acre site agricultural site in the heart of East London's financial district. Visitis to permaculture sites will be part of the course.

Introduction to the Forest Garden 16th November 2013

This course is suitable for beginners and experienced gardeners alike who want to develop their understanding of Forest Gardening to apply at home, allotment or community garden. 

The basics of Permaculture will be covered but the main focus of the day will be both theory and practicals around Forest Gardening. Concepts of design and implementation, natural systems and key plants for Forest Gardens. 'Working with nature' will be explored along with the opportunity to get muddy with a 'hands-on' project in the Centre grounds. 

This course runs from 09.45 to 16.00. Please bring a packed lunch to share.

This amazing course will cover origins, ethics & principles of permaculture and focus on how working with nature is a viable solution to environmental problems.  Permaculture uses whole systems thinking to create productive environments that work with ecology & community. Spring into Action! is a permaculture design course in North London, based at LAND learner site the Meadow Orchard Project and visiting a number of other local permaculture sites including London's oldest forest garden.


Participants attending the entire course qualify for the Permaculture Design Course certificate awarded by the Permaculture Association (Britain). Six weekends, fortnightly. 1/2 March; 15/16 March; 29/30 March; 12/13 April; 26/27 April; 10/11 May

Forest Garden Course 2012

Friday 3rd August - Sunday 5th August at Cambridge Sustainability Centre
Forest Gardening is a way of using the natural systems and layers of a woodland to create a food-producing environment with minimal effort. An edible forest garden is made up of fruit and nut trees, fruit bushes, perennial vegetables and herbs, and can be tailored to fit any space. This weekend course will provide a theoretical overview of how to design, implement and maintain a temperate forest garden, including working on a practical planting design for a forest garden on the farm.
